- Ensure you have a valid backup;
- Set the server BIOS;
- To your local time;
- First boot device to CDROM; and secondary boot device to the hard disk.
- Boot the server from the Statseeker Installation CDROM;
- Press [Enter] when the following message appears;
- If the server has multiple logical disks, you will be asked which disk to use for the installation;
- If the disk is more than 1TB in size, you will be asked if you want to use the "new method" for partitioning filesystems;
NOTE: Some hard drives greater than 1TB are not compatible with this method and you may need to reinstall the software and select "NO"
at this stage in the installation process.
If "NO" is selected, the filesystem will only use 1 TB of the disk.
Ensure you choose the method for partitioing that you previously used. If you change this method, you will lose all data on the Statseeker server.
- The installation procedure will detect the /home/statseeker filesystem and display the following screen.
Select "Yes" to upgrade the operating system without replacing /home/statseeker.
Progress messages appear and can be ignored.
- When prompted "Is this machine's CMOS clock set to UTC ?", select "No", then follow the on-screen instructions to set the time zone;
- Enter a root password twice. (For security purposes, chose your root password carefully);
NOTE: This will also be the web admin password, and statseeker user password.
- The "Network interface information required" screen will now display;
Select the Ethernet card and [OK] to continue.
- The "Network Configuration" screen will appear;
Fill in the following fields and then select [OK] to continue.
- Host Name of the server (Example: Statseeker);
- Domain Name (Example: yourdomain.com);
- IPv4 Gateway IP address;
- Name Server IP address;
- IPv4 Address of the server;
- Netmask;
- Leave the extra options empty.
The installation will now install the final packages and perform a disk performance check.
- Remove the CDROM when the installation is complete. The server will reboot to the login prompt;
- Login on the console as the "statseeker" user and ping an address on your network to test network connectivity
(Press CTL + c to end the ping);
- Run the ssadmin command to set the following items:
- SMTP Gateway IP address and Masquerade as domain name;
- HTTP proxy IP address, port number, username and password;
- NTP server IP address;
- Date, Time and NTP;
- Email;
- Network Configuration;
- Backup;
- Passwords;
- Operating System;
- Web Server.
(Enter "q" to exit ssadmin , and then "exit" to logout).
