Upgrade Software Only - Statseeker Version 3.x

Important Notes:

  • If you are upgrading from a release prior to Statseeker Version 3.2.0, please contact the Statseeker Customer Service Team at csm@statseeker.com before you upgrade.

  • If your Statseeker Server is currently operating on FreeBSD 7.0, both the Statseeker software and the Operating System will need to be be upgraded.

  • To check if your Statseeker Server is currently running FreeBSD 7.0 OR to identify whether you need to download the 64bit or 32bit version, please log on to your Statseeker Server using telnet or ssh as the statseeker user and run the following command:

    uname -a

    Note: x64 indicates a 64 bit installation, while x86 indicates a 32 bit installation.

  • WARNING: Upgrading to Statseeker Version 3.5 from prior versions requires updates to internal files which may take some time to complete. (Approximately 7 minutes for a 22,000 port network).

Upgrade Procedure

  • Step 1. Download the appropriate CD image file.
  • Step 2. Copy the file to your Statseeker server (Using either FTP or SSH).

    FTP Instructions for Windows:

    1. Once the file is downloaded, copy or move the file to the c:\ directory on your PC;
    2. Open a command prompt:
    3. Start -> Run Enter "cmd" into the Open box

      Click OK

    4. A black "Command prompt" window will open;
    5. Enter the command: cd \
    6. Enter the command: ftp ip_address (ip_address is the IP address of your Statseeker server);
    7. Enter the username: statseeker
    8. Enter your password: (This password will be the same as your "admin" password when using Statseeker);
    9. Change to the "cdrom" directory by entering the command: cd cdrom
    10. Enter the command: bin
    11. Enter the command: put statseeker_3.x.x_upgrade_64bit.iso (Use the filename of the CD image downloaded in Step 1.);
    12. Exit FTP by entering the quit command: quit

  • Step 3. Login to your Statseeker server and perform the upgrade.
    1. Telnet to the Statseeker server by either using a telnet application, or telnet from the command prompt used previously;
    2. Enter the command: telnet ip_address (ip_address is the IP address of your Statseeker server);
    3. At the login prompt, enter the username: statseeker
    4. Enter your password (Either your root password or Admin password);
    5. Enter the command: ssadmin
    6. Enter the Statseeker server root password;
    7. You should now see the following menu:
    8. Choose option 5. Software Upgrade
    9. Note: if you are upgrading from a version before 3.3.0 the upgrade process will now shutdown the Statseeker software, perform the upgrade and then reboot the server with the new version.

      If you are upgrading from 3.3.0 or above, a reboot is not performed.

    10. You can confirm that the server is running the new version by checking the Statseeker Version Number in the following location:
